(Slok) prologue (M: 4) by the fourth Guru. (Nidhaan-u = treasure) the wealth of awareness of (har-i = dispels vices) the purifying and (har-i = greening) rejuvenating (naam-u) Naam/Divine virtues and commands (hai) is (paaiaa jaaey) obtained (gurmukh-i) with the guru’s guidance.
One in (jin) whose (mastak-i = forehead) destiny it is so (likhiaa) written (dhur-i = source) by the Almighty, (satigur-u) the true guru (aaey = comes, miliaa = meets) is found/followed by (tin) that person.

His/her (tan-u) body and (man-u) mind (hoiaa) become cool and (saant-i/shaanti) peace (aaey = comes, vasi = abides) experienced by him/her
(Sabh-u) every (daalad-u = poverty) misery and (dukh-u) pain (lah-i jaaey) is removed (chaudiaa = uttering) by praising and emulating virtues of (har-i har-i) the Almighty, says fourth Nanak. 2.

(Paurri) stanza by the fourth Guru. (Hau) I (sadaa sadaa) forever (vaariaa = am sacrifice, kau = to) adore (tin) those (jinaa) who (deykhiaa) see/follow (piaara) the dear/loving (satiguru) true guru. (Satguru) the true guru is (miliaa) found/followed (tin kau) by those (jin kau) in whose (mastak-i = on firhead) destiny it is so (leykhiaa) written (dhur-i = at source) by the Almighty.
hari agamu dhiāiā guramatī tisu rūpu nahī prabh rēkhiā. gur bachani dhiāiā jinā agamu hari tē ṭhākur sēvak rali ēkiā. sabhi kahahu mukhahu nar naraharē nar naraharē nar naraharē hari lāhā hari bhagati visēkhiā.੯.
(Har-i) the Almighty is (agam-u) beyond physical reach, and (tis-u = that, prabh = master) God has no (roop) form or (reykhiaa) features; but is (dhiaaiaa) invoked – praised and obeyed – (gurmati) with the guru’s guidance.
(Jinaa) those who (dhiaaiaa) contemplate (agam-u) the unreachable (har-i) Almighty (bachan-i) by words/instructions of (gur) the guru, (tey) those (seyvak = servants) seekers (ral-i) merge and become (eykiaa) one with (tthaakur) the Master.
O (nar) human beings, let us (sabh-i) all (kahahu = say) praise (mukhahu) with the mouth – and obey – (narharey = Almighty – thrice) the Almighty in thought, word and deed; (laahaa = profit) the benefit of (bhagat-i) devotion to (har-i) the Almighty is (viseykhiaa) special, (har-i) God is found with it. 9.
