O Almighty, You are (purakh) existent before from before (aad-i) beginning – creation of universe, You (kartaar) the Creator are (aapey) Yourself (karan) the maker of (sab) all (kaaran) causes, i.e. everything happens by Your commands.

You (rahio = remain, bharpoor-i = filling) are present everywhere, and (rahi biaapey) pervade (sagal) all (ghatt = bodies) in all beings.

You (deykheeai) are seen (jagat-i) in the world, i.e. Your presence is felt by everything happening in an orderly manner, but (kaun-u = who?) no one (jaanai) knows (teyree) Your (gat-i) state; You (karai = do, rakhiaa = protection) look after (sarab) all, (aapey) on Your own, o (har-i) Almighty (pat-i) Master.

You are (abinaasee = imperishable) Eternal, (abigat) formless/unseen and (utpat-i) created (aap-i) by the self.

(Toohee) You (eykai) are One and (eykai = alone) unique, there is (naahee) no (an) other of (tum) Your (bhat-i) type.

(Har-i) Almighty has no (ant-u) limit or (paaraavaar-u) far end; (kaun-u = who?) no one can (karai = do, beechaar-u = reflection) fathom what God is; is (pitaa) father/creator (ko) of (srab) the whole (jagat) world and (adhaar-u = support, ko = of, praan = breaths/lives) sustains all existence.

(Jan-u) humble fifth (nanak-u) Nanak says: (Bhagat-u) a devotee (dar-i) at the place of, i.e. one who obeys the Almighty, becomes (tul-i = equal, samsar-i = alike) the embodiment of (brahm) the Creator; my (eyk) one (jeeh/jeebh) tongue (kiaa = how?) cannot (bakhaanai = say) recount virtues of the Almighty.

(Haa’n) yes, I proclaim (k-i) that I (bal-i = sacrifice) kill my ego and (sad) ever (bal-i bali bal-i = sacrifice – thrice) obey the Almighty in thought, word and deed. 1.

(Pravaah) streams of (amrit) the life giving elixir/Naam are (sar-i) flowing, Divine messages are being given to the mind by God; (atul = un-weighable) immeasurable (bhanddaar) storehouses are (bhar-i) full of devotion – one has only to take from there. Your being (par-i = is put) extends (parai) farther (hi tey) than (parai) the farthest; You are (apar apaar) Infinite.

You (kar-i) act on Your (aapuno) own (bhaavan-u = liking) decision, i.e. everything happens according to the Divine cosmic laws – as it naturally should; not (dhar-i) based on (doosro = second) anyone else’s (mantr-u) advice/direction; the power to (nimakh) instantly (opat-i) create and (parlou) destroy, lies (ghar-i = house) with (t-u) You.

(Naahee = not) there is none (aan) other (samsar-i) equal to You; (ujeeaaro = light) Naam/virtues and commands (nimar-i/nirmal-i = cleanses) purifies as (kott-i) crores of/countless (prachhat = sins) transgressions (jaah-i = go) being given up (lee-ey = taking) remembering (har-i = dispels vices) the purifying and (har-i = makes green) rejuvenating (naam) Divine virtues and commands.

The Creator (dhaarey) established (sagal) all (bhavan = places/buildings) existence; and (kee-ey = made, bisthaarey = expanded) created them all (they’n) from (eyk = one) IT-self; is (poor-i rahio = is filling) present (mah-i) in (srab) all, but (aap-i) IT-self (niraarey = different) untouched by what goes on there.

(Ant-i = limits) the expanse of (gun) attributes of (har-i) the Almighty cannot (paarey) be known; (sabh) all (jeea jant) creatures (thaarey = your) are created by, and is (daataa = giver) the Sustainor (ko) of (sagal) all; is (alakh = without signs) unseen; and (muraarey = killer of demon Mur) destroy evil, o Almighty.

The Almighty (aapey hi) IT-self alone (dhaarey) supports (dhaaran) the creation; and (deykhaarey) shows the Self (kudrat-i) in nature since the Almighty – not being a person – has no (baran-u) colour, (chihan-u) features or (chihan) identification, (mukh) face and (masaarey) beard.

My (man-u = mind) soul, (dhan-u) wealth and (praan’n) breaths/life are (teyro = your) given by You. (Jahaan’n) the world/all existence is controlled by (soot-i = string – like in a rosary) the cosmic laws made by (eykai = one) the Almighty; You are (baddaan’n) greater (tey) than (baddey) the greatest, I (deyo = give/make, upma = comparison) can compare God with (kavan = who?) no one – God is unique and above all.

(Kaun-u = who?) no one (jaanai) knows (teyro) Your (bheyo/bheyd) mystery – virtues and powers o (apar apaar) the Infinite (deyo) God; Your (kalaa) powers are (akal) beyond comprehension; (prabh) the Almighty is (dhaan’n) the Master of (sarab) all.

The Almighty is (nirankaar-u) formless, also has (akaar) form – as creation, (pooran = fills) pervades in the creation, but unlike all creation, is (achhal = not deceivable) not subject to temptations and hence (abinaasee = imperishable) Eternal is (nirmal = clean) pristine.

The Almighty (harakhvant = joyous) enjoys looking after the creation, has (aanant) infinite (bigaasee = blossoming) pleasing (roop) forms.

(Beyant) countless people (gaavah-i = sing) praise Divine virtues but (naahi) do not (paasee = get) know even (ik-u) one (til-u = equal to sesame seed) bit God’s (ant-u = limits of expanse) worth – virtues and powers.

We do not (suneeai) hear of any (aan, avar-u) other (purakh-u = personality) being to be (paooraatan-u) primal, i.e. none existed before God created the creatures – no one else is self-created.

The Almighty (agah-u = not held) is beyond reach and (na jaaey) cannot be (gahio) held/understood; God (poor-i) pervades in (sarab) all places and (rahio) remains (samaaey) contained in creatures – and directs them from within.
