ਸਾਰਗ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥ ਕਰਹੁ ਗਤਿ ਦਇਆਲ ਸੰਤਹੁ ਮੋਰੀ ॥ ਤੁਮ ਸਮਰਥ ਕਾਰਨ ਕਰਨਾ ਤੂਟੀ ਤੁਮ ਹੀ ਜੋਰੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Sārag mėhlā 5. Karahu gaṯ ḏa▫i▫āl sanṯahu morī. Ŧum samrath kāran karnā ṯūtī ṯum hī jorī. ||1|| rahā▫o.
Composition of the fifth Guru in Raga Saarag. O (daiaal) compassionate (santahu = respected saint) guru, please (karahu) make/cause (mori) my (gat-i) freedom, i.e. free me from vices.
(Tum) You are (samrath) capable (kaaran) to cause (karna) what is done/happens; (tum hi) you alone (jori = join, tootti = broken) can unite those separated from God. 1.

ਜਨਮ ਜਨਮ ਕੇ ਬਿਖਈ ਤੁਮ ਤਾਰੇ ਸੁਮਤਿ ਸੰਗਿ ਤੁਮਾਰੈ ਪਾਈ ॥ ਅਨਿਕ ਜੋਨਿ ਭ੍ਰਮਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਬਿਸਰਤ ਸਾਸਿ ਸਾਸਿ ਹਰਿ ਗਾਈ ॥੧॥
Janam janam ke bikẖ▫ī ṯum ṯāre sumaṯ sang ṯumārai pā▫ī. Anik jon bẖaramṯe parabẖ bisraṯ sās sās har gā▫ī. ||1||
(Tum) you (taarey = ferried) have saved (bikhaee = those with vices) wrongdoers of (janam janam) numerous births/lives; they (paaee) got (sumat-i) good counsel in (tumaarai) your (sang-i) company.
Those who (bhramtey) have been wandering in (anik) numerous (jon-i) life forms because of (bisrat) forgetting – commands of – (har-i) the Almighty, now (gaaee = sing) praise and obey (har-i) God (saas-i saas-i) with every breath, i.e. all the time. 1.
ਜੋ ਜੋ ਸੰਗਿ ਮਿਲੇ ਸਾਧੂ ਕੈ ਤੇ ਤੇ ਪਤਿਤ ਪੁਨੀਤਾ ॥ ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਵਡਭਾਗਾ ਤਿਨਿ ਜਨਮੁ ਪਦਾਰਥੁ ਜੀਤਾ ॥੨॥੪੨॥੬੫॥
Jo jo sang mile sāḏẖū kai ṯe ṯe paṯiṯ punīṯā. Kaho Nānak jā ke vadbẖāgā ṯin janam paḏārath jīṯā. ||2||42||65||
(Jo jo) all those who out of those (patit) fallen to vices (miley) join (sag-i) company (kai) of (saadhoo) the guru, (tey tey) they all are (puneetaa) purified of vices.
Those (ja key = whose) who have (vaddbhaagaa) good fortune, (tin-i) they – follow the guru and – (jeeta) win in (padaarath-u = substance) the valuable (janam-u) human birth, i.e. overcome vices and find God, says fifth Nanak. 2. 42. 65.

Sārag mėhlā 5. Ŧẖākur binṯī karan jan ā▫i▫o. Sarab sūkẖ ānanḏ sahj ras sunaṯ ṯuhāro nā▫i▫o. ||1|| rahā▫o.
Composition of the fifth Guru in Raga Saarag. O (tthaakur) Master, this (jan-u = servant) humble seeker (aaio) has come (karan) to make (binti) a supplication – please impart awareness of Your Naam, i.e. virtues and commands, the guide for life.
(Sarab) all (sookh) comforts, (aanand) happiness, (sahj) poise and (ras) enjoyment are obtained (sunat) by listening to – and practice of – (tuhaaro) Your (naaio) Naam, i.e. emulating Divine virtues and obeying Divine commands. 1.

ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਨਿਧਾਨ ਸੂਖ ਕੇ ਸਾਗਰ ਜਸੁ ਸਭ ਮਹਿ ਜਾ ਕੋ ਛਾਇਓ ॥ ਸੰਤਸੰਗਿ ਰੰਗ ਤੁਮ ਕੀਏ ਅਪਨਾ ਆਪੁ ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਾਇਓ ॥੧॥
Kirpā niḏẖān sūkẖ ke sāgar jas sabẖ mėh jā ko cẖẖā▫i▫o. Saṯsang rang ṯum kī▫e apnā āp ḏaristā▫i▫o. ||1||
You are (nidhaan) the treasure of (kripa) mercy, (saagar) the ocean/giver of (sookh) comforts, whose (jas-u) glory/majesty (chhaaio = covers) is acknowledged (mah) in (sabh) all places.
(Tum) You (kee-ey) create (rang) happiness (santsang-i) in congregation of saints by (dristtaaio) manifesting (aapna aap-i) Yourself there. 1.
ਨੈਨਹੁ ਸੰਗਿ ਸੰਤਨ ਕੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਚਰਨ ਝਾਰੀ ਕੇਸਾਇਓ ॥ ਆਠ ਪਹਰ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਸੰਤਨ ਕਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਇਹੁ ਪਾਇਓ ॥੨॥੪੩॥੬੬॥
Nainhu sang sanṯan kī sevā cẖaran jẖārī kesā▫i▫o. Āṯẖ pahar ḏarsan sanṯan kā sukẖ Nānak ih pā▫i▫o. ||2||43||66||
I watch the way of living of (santan = saints) Your seekers (nainhu) with the eyes and (seyva = service) do their bidding, (jhaari) dusting their (charan) feet with my (keysaaio) hair, i.e. in humility.
May I (paaio) attain (ihu) this (sukh-u) comfort, i.e. please give me this benediction, o Almighty: That I (darsan-u = sight) have company (ka) of (santan) the seekers (aatth = eight, pahar = three hours) all twenty four hours, i.e. follow their example round the clock, supplicates fifth Nanak. 2. 43. 66.

Sārag mėhlā 5. Jā kī rām nām liv lāgī. Sajan suriḏā suhelā sėhje so kahī▫ai badbẖāgī. ||1|| rahā▫o.
Composition of the fifth Guru in Raga Saarag. One whose (liv) attention (laagi) is fixed on living by (naam) Naam or virtues and commands of (ram) the Almighty;
S/he is (sajan-u) friend of all, has (surida = good heart) a clean mind, and is (sahjey) steadfastly (duheyla = comfortable) at peace; (so) such a person (kaheeai) is said to be, i.e. is truly, (vaddbhaagi) fortunate. 1.

ਰਹਿਤ ਬਿਕਾਰ ਅਲਪ ਮਾਇਆ ਤੇ ਅਹੰਬੁਧਿ ਬਿਖੁ ਤਿਆਗੀ ॥ ਦਰਸ ਪਿਆਸ ਆਸ ਏਕਹਿ ਕੀ ਟੇਕ ਹੀਐਂ ਪ੍ਰਿਅ ਪਾਗੀ ॥੧॥
Rahiṯ bikār alap mā▫i▫ā ṯe ahaʼn▫buḏẖ bikẖ ṯi▫āgī. Ḏaras pi▫ās ās ekėh kī tek hī▫aiʼn pari▫a pāgī. ||1||
S/he remains (rahit = bereft) free of (bikaar) vices, (alap/alipt) untouched (tey) by (maaiaa) temptations in the world-play; and (tiaagi) gives up (ahangbudh-i) ego.
S/he (piaas = thirst) yearns for (daras = sight) vision of, and (aas) expectation (ki = of) from, (eykah-i) the One Master; in his/her (heeai-n) in mind, s/he (tteyk) relies on being at (paagi) at feet of, for protection by, (pria) the Beloved Almighty. 1.
ਅਚਿੰਤ ਸੋਇ ਜਾਗਨੁ ਉਠਿ ਬੈਸਨੁ ਅਚਿੰਤ ਹਸਤ ਬੈਰਾਗੀ ॥ ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਜਿਨਿ ਜਗਤੁ ਠਗਾਨਾ ਸੁ ਮਾਇਆ ਹਰਿ ਜਨ ਠਾਗੀ ॥੨॥੪੪॥੬੭॥
Acẖinṯ so▫e jāgan uṯẖ baisan acẖinṯ hasaṯ bairāgī. Kaho Nānak jin jagaṯ ṯẖagānā so mā▫i▫ā har jan ṯẖāgī. ||2||44||67||
His/her (soey) sleeping, (jaagan) awaking, (utth-i) standing and (baisan-u) sitting are (achint) free of anxiety; his/her (hast) laughing and (bairaagi) being withdrawn from temptations and yearning for the Almighty are (achint = without thought) natural.
Says fifth Nanak: (Su) those (maaiaa) temptations in the world-play (jin-i) which (tthagaana) cheat/entice (jagat-u = world) the creatures; they are (tthaagi) cheated, i.e. are overcome, by (jan = servants) devotees of (har-i) the Almighty. 2. 44. 67.

ਸਾਰਗ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥ ਅਬ ਜਨ ਊਪਰਿ ਕੋ ਨ ਪੁਕਾਰੈ ॥ ਪੂਕਾਰਨ ਕਉ ਜੋ ਉਦਮੁ ਕਰਤਾ ਗੁਰੁ ਪਰਮੇਸਰੁ ਤਾ ਕਉ ਮਾਰੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Sārag mėhlā 5. Ab jan ūpar ko na pukārai. Pūkāran ka▫o jo uḏam karṯā gur parmesar ṯā ka▫o mārai. ||1|| rahā▫o.
Composition of the fifth Guru in Raga Saarag. (Ab) now, i.e. it is a Divine ordinance that, (ko na) no one (pukaarai = shouts, oopar-i = on) insults (jan = servant) a devotee of the Almighty.
Anyone (jo) who (karta = makes, udam-u = effort) tries to (pookaaran = shout) insult the devotee, (gur-u) the great (pameysar-u) Supreme Master (maarai = kills) destroys (ta kau) that person. 1.

ਨਿਰਵੈਰੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਵੈਰੁ ਰਚਾਵੈ ਹਰਿ ਦਰਗਹ ਓਹੁ ਹਾਰੈ ॥ ਆਦਿ ਜੁਗਾਦਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਜਨ ਕੀ ਪੈਜ ਸਵਾਰੈ ॥੧॥
Nirvairai sang vair racẖāvai har ḏargėh oh hārai. Āḏ jugāḏ parabẖ kī vadi▫ā▫ī jan kī paij savārai. ||1||
Anyone who (rachaavai) creates (vair-u) enmity (sang-i) with (nirvairey = one free of antagonism) the devotee who bears enmity to none, (ohu) that person (haarai) loses in (dargah) in Divine court, i.e. is not approve by the Almighty.
It is (vaddiaaee = virtue) a tradition of (prabh) the Master (aad-i) from the beginning of time (jugaad-i= beginning of ages) through the ages that IT (savaarai) preserves (paij) honor of (jan) the devotees. 1.
ਨਿਰਭਉ ਭਏ ਸਗਲ ਭਉ ਮਿਟਿਆ ਚਰਨ ਕਮਲ ਆਧਾਰੈ ॥ ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਬਚਨਿ ਜਪਿਓ ਨਾਉ ਨਾਨਕ ਪ੍ਰਗਟ ਭਇਓ ਸੰਸਾਰੈ ॥੨॥੪੫॥੬੮॥
Nirbẖa▫o bẖa▫e sagal bẖa▫o miti▫ā cẖaran kamal āḏẖārai. Gur kai bacẖan japi▫o nā▫o Nānak pargat bẖa▫i▫o sansārai. ||2||45||68||
The devotees (bhaey) become (nirbhau) fearless; (sagal) all their (bhau = fears) apprehensions (mittiaa = erased) disappear (aadhaarai = support) with confidence attained by (kamal = lotus, charan = feet) obedience to the Almighty.
(Bachan-i = with words, kai = of) guided by (gur) the guru, s/he (japio) remembers and practices (naau) Naam, i.e. emulates Divine virtues and obeys Divine commands given to the soul; s/he (pragatt bhaio = manifests) gets known (sansaarai) the world, i.e. everyone respects the devotee, says fifth Nanak. 2. 45. 68.

ਸਾਰਗ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥ ਹਰਿ ਜਨ ਛੋਡਿਆ ਸਗਲਾ ਆਪੁ ॥ ਜਿਉ ਜਾਨਹੁ ਤਿਉ ਰਖਹੁ ਗੁਸਾਈ ਪੇਖਿ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਪਰਤਾਪੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Sārag mėhlā 5. Har jan cẖẖodi▫ā saglā āp. Ji▫o jānhu ṯi▫o rakẖahu gusā▫ī pekẖ jīvāʼn parṯāp. ||1|| rahā▫o.
Composition of the fifth Guru in Raga Saarag. I, (jan = servant) a devotee of (har-i) the Almighty (chhoddiaa) have abandoned (sagla) all (aap-u = self) sense of self-importance – and placed myself in Your care and obedience.
Please (rakhahu) protect me from temptations (tiau) the way (jiau) which You (jaanhu) consider fit, o (gusaaee = master of the world) Almighty Master; I (jeevaa-n = live) am reassured (peykh-i) seeing Your (partaap-u) majesty. 1.

ਗੁਰ ਉਪਦੇਸਿ ਸਾਧ ਕੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਬਿਨਸਿਓ ਸਗਲ ਸੰਤਾਪੁ ॥ ਮਿਤ੍ਰ ਸਤ੍ਰ ਪੇਖਿ ਸਮਤੁ ਬੀਚਾਰਿਓ ਸਗਲ ਸੰਭਾਖਨ ਜਾਪੁ ॥੧॥
Gur upḏes sāḏẖ kī sangaṯ binsi▫o sagal sanṯāp. Miṯar saṯar pekẖ samaṯ bīcẖāri▫o sagal sambẖākẖan jāp. ||1||
With motivation from within, I found (sangat-i) company of (saadh) the guru – in holy congregation; with (gur) the guru’s (updeys-i) guidance – I overcame vices and – (sagal) all (santaap) distress (binsio = destroyed) has ended.
I (peykh-i) look at (mitr) friend and (satr) foe (samat-u) alike; (sagal) all I (sambhaakhan) speak is (jaap-u) recount and praise virtues of the Almighty. 1.
ਤਪਤਿ ਬੁਝੀ ਸੀਤਲ ਆਘਾਨੇ ਸੁਨਿ ਅਨਹਦ ਬਿਸਮ ਭਏ ਬਿਸਮਾਦ ॥ ਅਨਦੁ ਭਇਆ ਨਾਨਕ ਮਨਿ ਸਾਚਾ ਪੂਰਨ ਪੂਰੇ ਨਾਦ ॥੨॥੪੬॥੬੯॥
Ŧapaṯ bujẖī sīṯal āgẖāne sun anhaḏ bisam bẖa▫e bismāḏ. Anaḏ bẖa▫i▫ā Nānak man sācẖā pūran pūre nāḏ. ||2||46||69||
My (tapat-i = heat) the fire of craving and jealousy (bujhi) has been extinguished; I am (seetal = cool) at peace and (aghaaney) satisfied; I (bhaey) am (bismaad) ecstatic (sun-i) listening to (bisam) the wondrous (anhad) incessant celestial music, i.e. I experience God within.
I (bhaiaa = happened) experience (anad-u/anand) bliss with (saachaa) God’s presence and (poorey) playing of (pooran) perfect celestial (naad) music (man-i = in mind) within, says fifth Nanak. 2. 46. 69.

ਸਾਰਗ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥ ਮੇਰੈ ਗੁਰਿ ਮੋਰੋ ਸਹਸਾ ਉਤਾਰਿਆ ॥ ਤਿਸੁ ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਜਾਈਐ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੀ ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਹਉ ਵਾਰਿਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Sārag mėhlā 5. Merai gur moro sahsā uṯāri▫ā. Ŧis gur kai jā▫ī▫ai balihārī saḏā saḏā ha▫o vāri▫ā. ||1|| rahā▫o.
Composition of the fifth Guru in Raga Saarag. (Meyrai) my (gur-i) guru (utaaria) has removed (moro) my (sahasa) apprehensions – by guiding me to keep away from vices.
One (jaaeeai) should be (balihaari) sacrifice (kai) for (tis-u = that) such (gur) a guru; (hau) I (sadaa sadaa) shall forever (vaariaa = sacrifice) kill ego and do anything at the bidding of the guru. 1.

ਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਿਓ ਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤੀ ਗੁਰ ਕੇ ਚਰਨ ਮਨਿ ਧਾਰਿਆ ॥ ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਧੂਰਿ ਕਰਉ ਨਿਤ ਮਜਨੁ ਕਿਲਵਿਖ ਮੈਲੁ ਉਤਾਰਿਆ ॥੧॥
Gur kā nām japi▫o ḏin rāṯī gur ke cẖaran man ḏẖāri▫ā. Gur kī ḏẖūr kara▫o niṯ majan kilvikẖ mail uṯāri▫ā. ||1||
I (japio) remember and comply with (naam-u) instructions (ka) of the guru (din-u) day and (raati) night (dhaariaa) keeping (charan) feet of, i.e. being humbly conscious of the guru’s teachings (man-i) in mind.
I (nit) ever (karau = do, majan-u = bathing) bathe (dhoor-i) in the dust of feet, i.e. purify myself, by (utaaria) removing (mail-u) the dirt of, i.e. refraining from (kilvikh) vices – with teachings of the guru. 1.
ਗੁਰ ਪੂਰੇ ਕੀ ਕਰਉ ਨਿਤ ਸੇਵਾ ਗੁਰੁ ਅਪਨਾ ਨਮਸਕਾਰਿਆ ॥ ਸਰਬ ਫਲਾ ਦੀਨ੍ਹ੍ਹੇ ਗੁਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਿ ਨਿਸਤਾਰਿਆ ॥੨॥੪੭॥੭੦॥
Gur pūre kī kara▫o niṯ sevā gur apnā namaskāri▫ā. Sarab falā ḏīnĥe gur pūrai Nānak gur nisṯāri▫ā. ||2||47||70||
I (namaskaariaa = pay obeisance) respect (apna = own) my guru and (nit) ever (karau = do, seyva = service) carry out instructions of (poorey) the perfect/true guru.
(Sarab) all aspirations (deenhey = given, phalaa = fruits) have been fulfilled by (poorai) the perfect/true (gur-i) guru; (gur-i) the guru has (nistaariaa) ferried me across the world-ocean, i.e. I have overcome vices in the world-play – and I experience God within. 2. 47. 70.

ਸਾਰਗ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਨਾਮੁ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਗਤਿ ਪਾਵੈ ॥ ਮਿਟਹਿ ਕਲੇਸ ਤ੍ਰਾਸ ਸਭ ਨਾਸੈ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਹਿਤੁ ਲਾਵੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Sārag mėhlā 5. Simraṯ nām parān gaṯ pāvai. Mitėh kales ṯarās sabẖ nāsai sāḏẖsang hiṯ lāvai. ||1|| rahā▫o.
Composition of the fifth Guru in Raga Saarag. (Praan) life, i.e. one, (paavai) gets (gat-i) freedom from vices (simrat) by keeping in mind (naam-u) virtues and commands of the Almighty.
(Kaleys) strife – fighting with vices – (mittah-i = erased) ends, (sabh) all (traas) fears (naasai = run) are obviated when one (laavai) develops (hit-u) love for, i.e. attentively listens to Naam and learns how to practice it, by joining (saadhsang-i) the holy congregation,

ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਮਨਿ ਆਰਾਧੇ ਰਸਨਾ ਹਰਿ ਜਸੁ ਗਾਵੈ ॥ ਤਜਿ ਅਭਿਮਾਨੁ ਕਾਮ ਕ੍ਰੋਧੁ ਨਿੰਦਾ ਬਾਸੁਦੇਵ ਰੰਗੁ ਲਾਵੈ ॥੧॥
Har har har har man ārāḏẖe rasnā har jas gāvai. Ŧaj abẖimān kām kroḏẖ ninḏā bāsuḏev rang lāvai. ||1||
His/her (man-i) mind (aaraadhey) remembers (har-i = dispels vices) the purifying and (har-i = makes green) rejuvenating virtues and commands of (har-i har-i) the Almighty, and (rasna) the tongue (gaavai) sings (jas-u) praises of (har-i) the Almighty, i.e. s/he praises and emulates Divine virtues.
S/he (taj-i) gives up (abhimaan) vanity, (kaam) lust, (krodh-u) wrath and (ninda) slander, and (laavai) develops love for (baasdeyv) the Master of the universe, i.e. obeys God. 1.
ਦਾਮੋਦਰ ਦਇਆਲ ਆਰਾਧਹੁ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਕਰਤ ਸੋੁਹਾਵੈ॥ ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਭ ਕੀ ਹੋਇ ਰੇਨਾ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਦਰਸਿ ਸਮਾਵੈ ॥੨॥੪੮॥੭੧॥
Ḏāmoḏar ḏa▫i▫āl ārāḏẖahu gobinḏ karaṯ sohāvai. Kaho Nānak sabẖ kī ho▫e renā har har ḏaras samāvai. ||2||48||71||
(Aaraadhau) remember to practice commands of (daiaal) the kind (daamodar – metaphor for) God, o human being; one (sohaavai = looks good) receives glory in the world and Divine court (karat = doing) living by commands of (giobind) Master of the world.
One should (hoey) become (reyna) dust of the feet of (sabh) all, i.e. conduct him/her-self humbly, and (samaavai = remain absorbed) work to attain (daras-i = sight) union with (har-i har-i) the Almighty, says fifth Nanak. 2. 48. 71.

Sārag mėhlā 5. Apune gur pūre balihārai. Pargat parṯāp kī▫o nām ko rākẖe rākẖanhārai. ||1|| rahā▫o.
Composition of the fifth Guru in Raga Saarag. I (balihaarai = am sacrifice) adore (apuney = own) my (poorey = perfect) true guru.
He (keeo) made (pragatt) manifest, i.e. has shown, (prataap-u = majesty) power/efficacy (ko) of practice of Naam or Divine virtues and commands; I have been (raakhey) saved from wrong-doings and resultant pain (raakhanhaarai) by the protector Almighty Master through practice of Naam. 1.

ਨਿਰਭਉ ਕੀਏ ਸੇਵਕ ਦਾਸ ਅਪਨੇ ਸਗਲੇ ਦੂਖ ਬਿਦਾਰੈ ॥ ਆਨ ਉਪਾਵ ਤਿਆਗਿ ਜਨ ਸਗਲੇ ਚਰਨ ਕਮਲ ਰਿਦ ਧਾਰੈ ॥੧॥
Nirbẖa▫o kī▫e sevak ḏās apne sagle ḏūkẖ biḏārai. Ān upāv ṯi▫āg jan sagle cẖaran kamal riḏ ḏẖārai. ||1||
The guru (kee-ey) makes (apney = own) his (daas = servants) disciples (nirbhau = fearless) free of apprehensions of any retribution as he (bidaarai) gets rid of (sagely) all their (dookh) faults.
(Jan) the guru’s followers (tiaag-i) leave (sagely) all (aan) other (upaav) measures – like rituals and worship of gods/goddesses – and (dhaarai) keep (kamal = lotus, charan = feet) God in (rid) mind, i.e. ever obeys the Almighty. 1.
ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਅਧਾਰ ਮੀਤ ਸਾਜਨ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਏਕੈ ਏਕੰਕਾਰੈ ॥ ਸਭ ਤੇ ਊਚ ਠਾਕੁਰੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਕਾ ਬਾਰ ਬਾਰ ਨਮਸਕਾਰੈ ॥੨॥੪੯॥੭੨॥
Parān aḏẖār mīṯ sājan parabẖ ekai ekankārai. Sabẖ ṯe ūcẖ ṯẖākur Nānak kā bār bār namaskārai. ||2||49||72||
(Eykankaarai) the One Creator (aekai) alone is the (adhaar) mainstay of (praan) life and is (meet saajan) friend/help of all.
(Tthaakur-u) the Master (ka) of fifth Nanak, i.e. all universes, is (oochaa) the highest authority (tey) of (sabh) all; the devotee (baar baar = again and again) forever (namaskaarai = pays obeisance) lives in submission to IT’s commands. 2. 49. 72.

Sārag mėhlā 5. Bin har hai ko kahā baṯāvhu. Sukẖ samūh karuṇā mai karṯā ṯis parabẖ saḏā ḏẖi▫āvahu. ||1|| rahā▫o.
Composition of the fifth Guru in Raga Saarag. (Bataavhu = tell) show me (ko) who (hai) is (kahaa) where except (har-i) God, i.e. only God can help under all circumstances.
(Karuna mai) the kind (karta) the Creator is the source of (samooh = multitude) all (sukh) comforts; one should (sadaa) ever (dhiaavhu = pay attention) live in obedience of (tis-u) that (prabh) Master – to earn grace. 1.

ਜਾ ਕੈ ਸੂਤਿ ਪਰੋਏ ਜੰਤਾ ਤਿਸੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕਾ ਜਸੁ ਗਾਵਹੁ ॥ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਠਾਕੁਰੁ ਜਿਨਿ ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਦੀਨਾ ਆਨ ਕਹਾ ਪਹਿ ਜਾਵਹੁ ॥੧॥
Jā kai sūṯ paro▫e janṯā ṯis parabẖ kā jas gāvhu. Simar ṯẖākur jin sabẖ kicẖẖ ḏīnā ān kahā pėh jāvhu. ||1||
(Prabh) the Almighty, (kai) on (ja) whose (soot-i) thread (janta) the creatures are (proey) strung – like beads of a rosary, i.e. whose laws apply to everyone; one should, (gaavau) sing (jas-u) glory of, and obey, (tis-u) That Master.
(Simar-i = remember) keep in mind commands of (tthaakur-u) Master (jin-i) who has (deena = given) provided (sabh-u kichh-u) everything; (pah-i) to (kahaa) where (aan) else will you (jaavhu) go?, i.e. obey the Almighty and do not rely on gods/goddesses or persons.
ਸਫਲ ਸੇਵਾ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਮੇਰੇ ਕੀ ਮਨ ਬਾਂਛਤ ਫਲ ਪਾਵਹੁ ॥ ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਲਾਭੁ ਲਾਹਾ ਲੈ ਚਾਲਹੁ ਸੁਖ ਸੇਤੀ ਘਰਿ ਜਾਵਹੁ ॥੨॥੫੦॥੭੩॥
Safal sevā su▫āmī mere kī man bāʼncẖẖaṯ fal pāvhu. Kaho Nānak lābẖ lāhā lai cẖālahu sukẖ seṯī gẖar jāvhu. ||2||50||73||
(Seyva = service) obedience of (suaami) the Master of (meyrey = my) of all is (saphal) fruitful; you will (paavahu) obtain (phal = fruits) fulfilment of (baanchhat) wished by (man) the mind.
Says fifth Nanak: (Chaalhu) depart from the world (lai) taking (laabh laahaa = profit) benefit of human birth and (jaavhu = go) get (ghar-i) home (seyti) with (sukh) comfort, i.e. you will be honorably accepted for union with God. 2. 50. 73.

Sārag mėhlā 5. Ŧẖākur ṯumĥ sarṇā▫ī ā▫i▫ā. Uṯar ga▫i▫o mere man kā sansā jab ṯe ḏarsan pā▫i▫ā. ||1|| rahā▫o.
Composition of the fifth Guru in Raga Saarag. I (aaiaa = came) placed myself in (tumh) Your (sarnaai = sanctuary) care and obedience, o Almighty.
(Sansa) apprehensions (ka) of (meyrey) my (man) mind – of retribution for wrong-doings – (utar-i gaio) has been removed (jab tey) since I (paaiaa) obtained Your (darsan-u) vision, i.e. since I became aware of Naam or Divine virtues and commands, and thus commit no wrong-doings.
(Rahaau) dwell on this and contemplate.
ਅਨਬੋਲਤ ਮੇਰੀ ਬਿਰਥਾ ਜਾਨੀ ਅਪਨਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਾਇਆ ॥ ਦੁਖ ਨਾਠੇ ਸੁਖ ਸਹਜਿ ਸਮਾਏ ਅਨਦ ਅਨਦ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਇਆ ॥੧॥
Anbolaṯ merī birthā jānī apnā nām japā▫i▫ā. Ḏukẖ nāṯẖe sukẖ sahj samā▫e anaḏ anaḏ guṇ gā▫i▫ā. ||1||
You (jaani) knew (meyri) my (birtha) painful state of mind and (japaaiaa) caused me to remember and practice (apna = own) Your Naam.
My (dukh) pains (naatthey = run away) have left and (sukh) comforts (samaaey = remain) experienced (sahj-i) all the time; (anad anad/anand) all this bliss is due to (gaaiaa = singing) praising and emulating Your (gun) virtues. 1.
ਬਾਹ ਪਕਰਿ ਕਢਿ ਲੀਨੇ ਅਪੁਨੇ ਗ੍ਰਿਹ ਅੰਧ ਕੂਪ ਤੇ ਮਾਇਆ ॥ ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਿ ਬੰਧਨ ਕਾਟੇ ਬਿਛੁਰਤ ਆਨਿ ਮਿਲਾਇਆ ॥੨॥੫੧॥੭੪॥
Bāh pakar kadẖ līne apune garih anḏẖ kūp ṯe mā▫i▫ā. Kaho Nānak gur banḏẖan kāte bicẖẖuraṯ ān milā▫i▫ā. ||2||51||74||
You (pakar-i) held by (baah) the arm and (kaddh-i leeney) took me out, (apuney = own) Your seeker (tey) from (grih = house) the state of (andh = blind, koop = well) being blinded by temptations of (maaiaa) the world-play, i.e. made me aware of attachment to vices and helped to be freed.
(Gur-i) the guru (kaattey = cut) ended (bandhan = bonds) attachments to the world-play and (aan-i) brought me (bichhrat) the separated one to be (milaaiaa) united with God, says fifth Nanak. 2. 51. 74.
