Jo jo pīvai so ṯaripṯāvai. Amar hovai jo nām ras pāvai. Nām niḏẖān ṯisėh parāpaṯ jis sabaḏ gurū man vūṯẖā jī▫o. ||2||
(Jo jo) whosoever (peevai) drinks this elixir – obeys Naam – (so) that person (triptaavai) is satisfied – and looks nowhere else. One who (paavai) gets (rasu = taste) experience of obeying Naam (hovai) is (amaru) immortal, does not fall prey to vices.
But (nidhaan = treasure) the wealth of awareness of Naam (prapati) is received (tisahi) by that person in (jisu) whose (mani) mind (sabadu = word) teachings of the guru(voottha) abide/are remembered. 2.
Jin har ras pā▫i▫ā so ṯaripaṯ agẖānā. Jin har sāḏ pā▫i▫ā so nāhi dulānā. Ŧisėh parāpaṯ har har nāmā jis masṯak bẖāgīṯẖā jī▫o. ||3||
One who (paaiaa) receives (hari) Divine (rasu = taste) experience is satisfied; one (jini) who (paaiaa) gets (hari) Divine (saadu = taste) experience, (so) that person cannot (ddolaana = cause to waver) be misled/tempted.
But awareness of (hari = dispels vices) the purifying and (hari = makes green) rejuvenating (naama) commands (prapati) is obtained (tisahi) by that person in (jisu) whose (mastaki) forehead/destiny (bhaageettha) good fortune it has been written by the Creator. 3.
Har ikas hath ā▫i▫ā varsāṇe bahuṯere. Ŧis lag mukaṯ bẖa▫e gẖaṇere. Nām niḏẖānā gurmukẖ pā▫ī▫ai kaho Nānak virlī dīṯẖā jī▫o. ||4||15||22||
Awareness of (hari) Divine virtues and commands (aaiaa) comes (hathi) in hand, i.e. is possessed by (ikasu = one) the true guru and (bahuteyrey) numerous people (varsaaney) benefit from his guidance. (Ghaneyrey) plenty of people (bhaey) become (mukati) free of vices (lagI = attaching) by following (tisu = that) the true guru.
Awareness of (nidhaana = treasure) the wealth of awareness of Naam (paaeeai) is obtained (gurmukhi) with the guru’s teachings; (virli) some rare (ddeettha) is seen to follow the guru, (kahu) says fifth Nanak. 4. 15. 22.
